As there were two important meetings on thursday, I started my job with coop two days early. So far I was very busy, meeting people, getting introductions therefore I hardly had time to get installed yet. I’m looking forward to an interesting and challenging time working there. I’ll tell you more about it some time later. The next two weeks I’ll get a stage in Accounting because I’ll need that for further projects. As I already told some uf you, if you need to reach me during day time it’s best to call my mobile or write me a mail on my coop account (thomas.albiez at coop dot ch)

PS: On the obove picture you can see the building I am working in. As it is near the train station you can hardly miss it while arriving in BASEL ;-)

All set to start with Coop

July 29th, 2004

Well, yesterday I went to Zuerich, playing Mini Golf and getting back on my black bike for I can drive into the city center now without getting stuck in the morning traffic.
Today I was again doing some cunstruction work. I drove a large pickup truck under a gravel dispenser to get 1.2 tons of gravel. Wow that was hell a cool. A hole opened and the truck was filled in seconds. Pretty heavy I can tell. We had to shovel all the gravel into the hole we dug around the house in basel, then, cover the rest back up with about 10 to 15 tons of mud. This took us the better part uf the day.
And finally I totally redesigned my gallery, I still have to adjust some parts a little, but you can already get a look at:

I like it :D, hope you do to.

In a few hours I’ll beginn working at Coop, so I really need to go and take a nap now, important day tommarow ;-) catch you guys later

Keeping ya up to date

July 25th, 2004

Garsh, this blog seems rather a static page to me. Time passes so fast and I miss to keep this page up to date. However, here is finally an update again. I’ll try and make some more in the near future. Well I moved to my parents home for the next few month cause I need to work in BASEL. Back home I try to enjoy my only two weeks of holidays I get at the moment, I play golf and help my dad on one of his beloved construction sites.
From time to time I take some shots with my new digicam. I’m happy with the overall image quality outdoors, but indoors or in darker settings, the cam is useless without using the flash. When the flash is turned on, the colors are not so smoth any more. Here is a sample picture for all of those who need a little bit of luck ;-)

Recently I went to Zuerich Airport to bring Jonas to his flight to Tokyo, you can read about his travels here.
Yesterday I went to 11×25, a huge birthdayparty organised by lots of friends. You should find pictures here soon.
I will start to work on Thursday but nevertheless, if you like to go for a game of billiard in magden, go for a swim in the “Joggeli”, play tennis in Zuerich, have a barbi at the Irchel Park or whatsoever, just drop me a line, I think I’ll have plenty of time. Oh, I almost forgot, it would be awsome to play frisbee from time to time, day or night is fine with me.

A view out of my window

July 3rd, 2004

–> get a 360° view of the area in normal or huge size

This is the beautiful view straight out of my window. Actually the souroundigs aren’t to great after all. Behind that dirtwall, a major highway passes by. Behind the highway, just about 10 minutues by bike, you will find Zuerichs largest airport. I see airplanes taking off all day long, which I actually like very much. Sometimes, when I wake up on a clear morning, I see the white peaks of the swiss alps right from my bed. They are just left of the building on the right hand side. This is still special for me, cause I’ve grown up in one of the few places in switzerland where you are far away from those mountains.

Introduction

July 2nd, 2004

Welcome home, the world is waiting

Well ist not only the design of the blog that changes, I also try to improve
the blogging style. Thus I will not post only some comments with pictures I
made, I rather try and write also some stuff that’s going through my mind.
This might only be of interest if you know me well.

I have to apologize for the horrible english. I’ve never been any good
in learning languages but english is the only way my friends abroad can read
this too. As for now, I’m in the middle of a examination period at the
UNIZH . It’s already one of my last and I’m
glad to say that. By mid june, I’ll get two weeks off, before i start working
with Coop for three month. I’m not really sure
what to do during this two weeks, probably find some beach in eruope to hang
around. I’d like to go to Japan but for only two weeks I’m not sure if its worth
the trouble.

This means I’m leaving Zuerich for a while. So if you like to meet me somewhere,
you rather try the Basel area first ;-). I’m not sure about the next semester
at unibersity, depending on my success this term, I might spend some time abroad
avoiding cold winter time back home.

Finally you might wonder why I call this travelblog. Well if you know me, you
might think I’m travel addicted, but it’s more. Sometimes, there is more to
something than you can see. It’s not just a hobby, it’s a life. In my last japanese
lesson, a studant asked our teacher, why he had chosen to learn japanese although
nobody did do so fourty years ago. His answer was simple, he said he didn’t
choose japanese, japanese did choose him. And thats somehow how I feel about
travelling and beeing abroad. I ve not been chosen by one place but the world
as a whole. This may sound naive to you, but well, I dont care. So this web
page is basically to keep in contact with my friends wherever you are but aswell
wherever I am. It’s for those back home, my family and friends, wondering what’s
happening out there. Well this might be enough for a brief introduction.

Life love laugh dream and travel

faithfully yours Thomas

Blogging Restart

July 2nd, 2004

Hi Everybody, …

Well it looks like I can start blogging again. I know it took quite a while to fix server problems but finally, this should be working again. As my old entries got wiped out from the database you can access them now only through the link "Older Archieves". I hope I’ll find enough time to fully update and customize this page so you can enjoy my blogging. I’m always happy about feedback :-) mailto: mkay at sudo.ch
